Location: Changi Village and Pulau Ubin, Singapore
This is part of my Singapore Cycling Tour series:
1. East Coast Park and Coastal Park Connector.
2. Bukit Batok East, Ulu Pandan and Jurong Park Connector.
3. Pasir Ris Park, Tampines Park Connector, Pasir Ris Town Park.
Earlier today, the whole family went to Pulau Ubin to attend the second UI (and Gunadarma) reunion in Singapore.
With both my and Irza's bicycles mounted on the bike carrier, we proceeded to Changi Village and had breakfast at the famous Hjh Salbiah nasi lemak stall there. We also bought some packets of nasi lemak to be brought to Pulau Ubin.
After meeting some of our friends at Changi Point (total there were seven families took part on this event), we proceeded to the jetty and board the bumboat to Pulau Ubin. There are two bumboat services there, another one will bring you to Pengerang, Johor, Malaysia and you would need your passport to go there. Since Pulau Ubin is still part of Singapore, we do not need to bring our passports and we didn't even have to buy tickets. Just join the queue and the bumboat will depart when there's 12 passengers on board. The fare is $2.5 per person, and $2 per bicycle. Since there were four of us and we also brought two bicycles, the total fare is $14, one way.
Reaching Pulau Ubin jetty, I took some maps from the information kiosks while my wife proceeded to one of the bicycle rental kiosks to rent a bicycle for herself. All of us then proceeded to Chek Jawa, our destination for the day.
After several kilometers of paved road, we were greeted with unpaved road leading to Chek Jawa. Here is where our mountain biking skills are being tested. :) The kids were having a great time playing at Chek Jawa, and after having our nasi lemak packets for lunch at a nice villa in Chek Jawa, we went back to the jetty and boarded the bumboat back to the mainland Singapore.
Pulau Ubin is one of our best destinations for cycling in Singapore, and the kids were really having a great time. We shall go there again, soon! :)
