Indo-Sing-GaPenting and IndoSing-Photographer BBQ Gathering

Date: Saturday, 31 January 2009
Location: Muda Ikhsan's residence, Moonstone Lane.

Again, Ikhsan is hosting a gathering event for the Indo-Sing community. This time, he's hosting a BBQ gathering event for the Indo-Sing-GaPenting and IndoSing-Photographer communities.

The signature menus featured are Ikhsan's sate padang, and the famous sate Braddell. Unfortunately, the famous sate Moonstone Lane was not featured since the chef was already busy preparing sate padang and lontong sayur, which turn out to be wonderfulicious. :)

The kids were also having a great time playing with their new friends, Reya and Abel.

Looking forward to the next Indo-Sing-* gathering. :)

Happy Lunar New Year

Date: 25-26 January 2009
Location: Chinatown

On Chinese New Year's eve, I went to Chinatown with Irza to soak into the festive moods of Lunar New Year, and also to watch the fireworks display during the countdown to the new year of ox.

We parked our car at VivoCity and took the MRT train to Chinatown, to avoid (human) traffic jam around the area. After the fireworks display, we had ourselves some tiramisu cake and double chocolate coffee from Coffee Bean at Chinatown Point while waiting for the crowd to disperse, before we took the train back to Harbourfront.

I would like to wish everyone who celebrate Chinese New Year, a very happy new year of ox. Hope that everyone will have a very happy and prosperous new year ahead.

Sony might quit Sony Ericsson’s joint venture?

I’m reading here that Sony is considering exiting the Sony Ericsson joint venture with Ericsson, after the joint venture was posting a $247 million loss for 2008.

Hopefully future supports and services for Sony Ericsson phones, including my Xperia X1, will not be stopped.

Location: Kampong Glam, Singapore

Last Saturday, I took Inka and Irza for a tour around Kampong Glam, Singapore.

We started our walking tour from Bugis Junction and visited two Kampong Glam's main attractions, Masjid Sultan and Istana Kampong Glam.

We also passed through the row of shops along Bussorah Street Mall and Arab Street, and also row of restaurants and eateries (some of them are authentic Padang/Minang cuisine restaurants) along Kandahar Street and North Bridge Road.

Trip to Indonesia (9): Liwet Pak Asep Stroberi Restaurant

Date: 8 December 2008
Location: Nagrek, on the main highway between Tasikmalaya and Bandung, West Java, Indonesia.

This entry is part of our "Trip to Indonesia" series on December 2008:

1. First Time Karaoke-ing
2. Grand Indonesia
3. Sari Sunda Restaurant, Bandung
4. Rumah Sosis, Bandung
5. Holiday to Garut, West Java
5.a. Holiday in Garut, Danau Dariza (posted by my wife)
6. Garut Town and Mulih K'desa
7. Crown Mahkota Graha Hotel, Tasikmalaya
8. Around Burujul, Tasikmalaya
9. Taman Safari (posted by my wife)

After celebrating Hari Raya Idul Adha in Tasikmalaya, we went back to Bandung in the afternoon. We dropped by at Liwet Pak Asep Stroberi restaurant, located at Nagrek, for late lunch.

This restaurant is located on the main highway between Bandung and Tasikmalaya. If you drive from Bandung, the restaurant is located on the left side of the road, just after the Y-junction to Garut. Take note that this restaurant is located after (east of) the Y-junction, so if you're heading towards Garut from Bandung, you will not pass by this restaurant and you have to make a short detour towards Limbangan.

The restaurant is quite big. It's built on a slope of a hill and the saungs are scattered around the foot of the hill. The food is very nice, and the price is reasonable. However, the plus point of this restaurant is that it also provides some outbound activities to keep the kids amused.

From the top of the hill, there's a very high and long flying fox system across the valley to the base of the complex. Irza dares himself to take the flying fox and so far, this was the longest and highest flying fox Irza has taken so far. The kids can also ride horses and play in the playground in the valley.

Apologise, I didn't manage to take the pictures of the food, since I was concentrating in taking pictures of the outbound amenities. :)
