Date: 29 March 2008.

Trip to Bangkok, January 2003

Found some old photo collections, so I decided to upload them here. These are the pictures we took when we were going to Bangkok, Thailand, on January 2003, which is more than 5 years ago.

The four of us took a flight from Singapore to Bangkok, and we met Aki and Ene who came directly from Jakarta to Bangkok. We took the opportunity to visit the Grand Palace, Wat Pho (temple of reclining Buddha) and Wat Arun (temple of the dawn).

We also went to the Chatuchak weekend market and some of the shopping malls around Siam Square area, although we didn't manage to take any pictures there.

Note that at that time, the new Suvarnabhumi airport was not yet opened, and we were still using the old Don Muang airport.

How I Missed the Old Times

I sent my car to the workshop for 80K km servicing this morning. Being a 80K "full range" of servicing, the service advisor said that it'll take 1.5 days for the car to be serviced. So I can only collect the car tomorrow.

So here I am now, taking a public bus from work to home, just like the old times. :) How I missed them so much. :) :)

So it's time for me to sell the car? Engga ah, sayang... :) :)

East Coast Park

Date: Friday, 21 March 2008.
Location: East Coast Park, Singapore.

On a Good Friday evening, I took Inka and Irza to East Coast Park for another cycling trip. East Coast Park has always been our favourite place for cycling activities in Singapore.

Instead of renting the bicycles at the usual place in Marine Cove, we rented the bicycles at another kiosk in Raintree Cove, further east from Marine Cove, near a Burger King outlet there. The bicycles are of better quality, with the same price and the same promotion (rent 1 hour and get another hour free).

Similar to Tante Ira and her abang, we cycled for more than 1.5 hours there, after which, the kids were still begging for more (!!!) before I forced them to return the bicycles to the kiosk. We covered the longest route we have achieved at East Coast Park so far, from the kiosk at Raintree Cove going west past Marine Cove and the new Playground @ Big Splash up until the end of the cycling path (near Fort Road) and back, and then passing Raintree Cove further east, past the Siglap canal, circling the Island Resort and then back to the kiosk.

Little Guilin

Date: Friday, 21 March 2008.
Location: Little Guilin, Bukit Batok Town Park, Bukit Gombak, Singapore.

Today is a public holiday in Singapore. In the morning, I took a short stroll at Bukit Batok Town Park, which is not far from our current residence now. The park is more famously known as Little Guilin, because there's a lake surrounded by granite rocks similar to that of Guilin in China.

After strolling around the lake, I walked towards the Bukit Gombak MRT station and went to Alif restaurant, which is located just next to the McDonalds there, to buy back some pratas for breakfast at home. The queue is quite long and it seems that they are having difficulties to cope with such high demand. I would still prefer having my prata from Al-Azhar or Al-Ameen instead.

Trip to Batam

Date: Monday, 17 March 2008.

I went to Batam yesterday to accompany my mother to Hang Nadim airport, for her to catch the flight to Jakarta. She had a small accident during her stay here in Singapore, causing her to have difficulties in walking. So I had to accompany her to Batam since she refused to take a direct flight from Changi airport.

Took the BatamFast ferry from Harbourfront to Batam Center, and I found that the ferry is not as good as Penguin.

After having lunch at the Singgalang restaurant located at the airport (where I can taste the "real" nasi padang), I took a cab back to Batam Centre and had some groceries shopping from the hypermarket at the basement of the Batam Centre Megamall, before heading back to the ferry terminal across the road and took the next ferry back to Singapore.

Sorry, not many pictures I took. :)

Milis IndoSing Photographer

Originally posted on Indo-Sing blog here.

IMM, Jurong East

Various pictures taken at IMM Building, Jurong East, Singapore. IMM is one of our favourite shopping centres we frequently visit, since it's very close to our current (and near future) residence.

IMM is equipped with a playground, which is located on the 3rd floor of the shopping mall. There are two playgrounds, wet and dry, which are located side by side.

Not far from the playgrounds, is a halal food court called Bagus, which is managed by Banquet.

Downstairs on the first (ground) floor, there's Giant Hypermart where we usually buy our groceries.

Anyone can guess at which restaurant in Singapore we can find this kind of fruit salad? :)

Hippo Tours Singapore

Date: Sunday, 10 February 2008.
Location: Along the route of the Heritage Tour, Hippo bus tour, Singapore.

Still making use of the 3-in-1 Duck, Hippo and DHL Balloon combo tickets promotion, at the end of the long Chinese New Year weekend last month, we took the Hippo Tours bus ride around Singapore.

There were two Hippo Tour routes being offered: City Tour and Heritage Tour. We took the Heritage Tour route, which brought us through Little India, Kampong Glam, Arab Street, Chinatown and the Civic District of Singapore.
